Hello,

I was wondering if it is currently possible to create a sql-query answer type that uses a different database connection than the SurveyProject database.

Cross-database joins are not currently a development option.

If this is not currently possible, I would like to make it a feature request....

Proposal:

The ability to retrieve data from an outside source as an answer-type (similar to the XML or SQL query answer types). Possible external sources could include a separate database or an API URL that would return appropriately formatted data.

Hello,

You should be able to do that (connect to remote server/ database) through the SQL query you write for the sql-answertype. It's independent of SP but depends on settings/ options on MSSqlserver e.g. option to add linked servers to connect to.
